The Leadership Award will be awarded to a young person who has 
Demonstrated outstanding leadership in a project, organisation, or at school.
Demonstrated their ability to successfully lead others and be a positive role model.

Selwyn Youth Council Commitment to Wellbeing Award


The Commitment to Wellbeing Award will be awarded to a young person who has shown commitment to protecting or promoting health and wellbeing issues at a community, group, or individual level or within an organisation, club, or school. 

Commitment to Wellbeing could include raising awareness or actively organising initiatives, events or programmes which address a health or wellbeing issue.

The selection panel will be casting a broad view on what constitutes a health and wellbeing issue. However, this might include lifestyles including living and working environments, foods, addictions, mindfulness, physical activity, mental health, disease including prevention and cure, sexual health, injury prevention and first aid, access to services

The ELG and Collective Success Advocate for Inclusion and Diversity Award. 

Youth Voice Canterbury values inclusion and seeks to ensure that all young people are included in decision-making. This award seeks to acknowledge a youth participation group or young person who is advocating for inclusivity and diversity of under-represented groups by demonstrating a commitment to and/or promotion of inclusion and diversity within a group, community, project, or place.

Community Action Award

The Community Action Award will be awarded to a young person who is actively involved and commits their time and energy to volunteer, which makes a significant impact in their community.

The Leadership Lab Young Change Maker Award

The Young Champion Award will be awarded to a young person who has made a positive change in their life and inspired their peers in a positive way. This young person may have made a dramatic change in their life or someone else’s life, or may have succeeded in the face of adversity and overcome obstacles.

The Supreme Youth Award will be awarded to a young person who has participated in or made a significant contribution to young people in their district, in areas such as (but not limited to) leadership, wellbeing, inclusion, positive changes, community action, or youth participation. The young person who wins this award is someone who might address current needs for young people in their community or give young people a voice. ​

Te Tohu Hihiri Taumata (Working for Youth)

Te Tohu Hihiri Taumata will be a person nominated by a young person or group of young people for supporting a young person or youth participation group in their development in the areas of (but not limited to) leadership, wellbeing, inclusion, positive changes, community action, or youth participation over and above the requirements of their paid role.

​Environment Canterbury Environmental Action Award


This award recognises individuals who are working collaboratively within their community to protect and improve Canterbury’s environment or are working to increase others awareness and understanding of environmental issues.

Te Pūtahitanga o Te Waiponamu Youth Award for Rangatahi Māori


The Rangatahi Leadership Award recognises rangatahi leaders who are advancing Te Ao Māori in any way.  
 
The Rangatahi Leadership Award will recognise a young person who has shown commitment to advancing Te Ao Māori in their whanau, hapu, iwi, school, community, group, club or area.  
 
The Rangatahi Leadership Award is designed to recognise rangatahi Māori no matter when they are on their own Te Ao Māori journey.
 
This category is broad but could include initiatives that seek to promote Te Reo Māori, tikanga Māori, rangatahi Māori participation or any activity, programme or initiative that supports the development of rangatahi Māori in their communities.

The PYLAT Award for Pacific Youth Leadership. 

PYLAT was set up after the 2010 Christchurch Pacific Youth Parliament to empower Pacific youth voice in all worlds.

This award acknowledges a Pacific young person who demonstrates through their community, church, school or study involvement actions that empower the voices of other Pacific young people. 


This award will recognise a young person who has shown commitment to advancing the Pacific voice in their family, church, school, community, group, club or area.  

This award is designed for someone who has self identified Pacific heritage as evidenced through their service to our Canterbury Pacific youth communities.
