What is ReDefine: Youth Development Programme?
ReDefine aims to redefine what it means to be a young person with a disability and empower these young people to take on a positive identity and see their value not despite disability but with disability.
We will do this through a number of key initiatives:
Inspiring Speaker Series:
Two-Day ReDefine Hui:
Saturday 31st August - Sunday 1st September 2019

We will do this through a number of key initiatives:
Inspiring Speaker Series:
- Showcasing the real stories and day-to-day successes of young people with disabilities.
- Combatting the tokenistic ways disability stories are often told by the media that offer little benefit or acknowledgement to the people with disabilities they discuss.
- To offer youth with disabilities ‘real’ and ‘accessible’ young role-models that they can connect and engage with.
Two-Day ReDefine Hui:
Saturday 31st August - Sunday 1st September 2019
- Day 1: Just for young people with disabilities: to have personal development opportunities and connect and upskill.
- Day 2: An opportunity for young people with a disability and non-disabled young people to come together and look at the role of disability in youth voice and participation
Seeking Expressions of Interest:
- YVC is currently in the process of creating an Advisory Group of a handful of young people (aged 12-24) with disabilities to help support us with ReDefine, as we know that young people come from diverse backgrounds and experiences and youth with disabilities are no different.
